Throughout today's assignment, you've really got to ignore your desire to jerk on the lead line, should the horse balk. When you do that, the jerk on the line is you. Rudely snapping the lead line simply causes the horse's head to shoot up and his body to become rigid. He doesn't learn a darn thing but everybody at the barn figures you're in over your head. Anytime you feel that desire, the answer isn't "jerk, jerk," the answer is for you to get those hips moving. The power comes from those hips. When you're horse stalls, his engine isn't driving him forward. Get the hips unstuck.
