Mare owners, if you'd like to get your colt or filly started out with a proper foundation, I would suggest the investment of $5.99 in my foal-training course.

An excerpt from "Your Foal: Essential Training for the Young Horse":
A standing rule throughout this material is the understanding that any time your colt has a problem with something, you need to step back in your training. Bathing is no exception. If necessary, leave the wash rack entirely and practice prior exercises for as long as it takes. Wash racks can be slippery spaces so you don't want any more "flailing legs" than absolutely necessary. This entire process should be a quiet, business-like affair. If he simply refuses to allow his head to be showered, go back and practice sacking out his ears, eyes, muzzle or what-have-you. This time use more objects, maybe ones that make more noise or have a decidedly different feel to them. (Rustling wax paper, a length of rope that approximates the look and feel of a hose, a dripping sponge, etc.) If he's got issues with the hose touching his back feet, fall back and practice with your lunge whip or lariat, wrapping an unwrapping his legs. This stuff's easy if you've done your homework.
